New Feature JUST LISTEN: OpenEars Music was founded originally with one true goal in mind, as a place of discovery to help expose talented new artists. In reality, we are mostly a group of photographers who love to go see live music, and of course, shoot live music. We wish we had the time and resources to write about all the rad new music being sent our way everyday. Let’s be honest though, if you are one of those with really open ears, open to new artists, and open to something potentially unique like us, then our words only go so far. You listen for yourself and make your own decisions on the music you like. JUST LISTEN is a place for us to present our latest finds that we are digging. No words needed, just listen…..
JUST LISTEN: Andrew Bryant “I Wish I Had More”
The Deets:
Who: Andrew Bryant
Song: “I Wish I Had More”
Appears On: Standalone annual Christmas single released on December 22nd. Purchase on Bandcamp.
Current Location: Water Valley, Mississippi
Info: The co-founder of Water Liars, Andrew Bryant has proved to be a prolific songwriter and musician both with Water Liars, and as a solo artist, including one of our favorite 2015 albums, Bryant’s This Is The Life. The last few years, Bryant has been releasing an annual new original Christmas tune.
Comments: Andrew Bryant’s new song provides a haunting look at a hardworking man doing his best to show his love on Christmas to his kids who he doesn’t get to be with on this day because of being separated from their Mom, and the fact that he is going to work. It’s a gorgeous and stunning song that will be listened outside of just holiday season, yet perfectly captures the sentiment of the season. It’s the thought that counts, and while Bryant wishes he had more to give to his family (and even his old love – their mom, despite the rough times), his love for his family resonates throughout the song – and that’s all that truly matters.
While you are here, check out another brand new song from Andrew Bryant:
Bryant posted the following note on his Facebook about the new song: “I contributed a song to my good friends in The Gunshy‘s Undefeated Series. It’s a song inspired by an article published by The Bitter Southerner some time back, and is dedicated to all the brave souls fighting for justice against the Old South conservative political machine. Song is free. Spread it far and wide.”
