Diarrhea Planet, a six-piece garage rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, formed in 2009, brought their 4 loud and nasty guitars setup to The Drunken Unicorn stage on Friday, March 31st. The band includes singer-guitarist Jordan Smith, guitarist-singer Emmett Miller, guitarist Evan Bird, guitarist-singer Brent Toler, bassist Mike Boyle, and drummer Ian Bush. They released their latest and third album, Turn To Gold, on June 10th, 2016 via their label: Infinity Cat Recordings.
The Drunken Unicorn’s limited space could barely contain the noise that Diarrhea Planet gave off. The stage was flanked by 4 guitarists all giving off their own unique sound. It was a packed venue on a Friday night. The crowd was fully invested in what they were being presented with. The band started the set off with their heavy metal tinged opener “Lite Dreams”. As they went back and forth through songs across their entire catalog. They also managed to fit in a raucous cover of The Stooge’s “Search and Destroy”.
Their set was seamless, unrelenting and an all around good time. Most of the crowd left that night grinning from ear to ear at the show they just witnessed. /- Peter Sigmund
