Info: Cougar Sweat is a rock duo from Kennesaw, Ga comprised of guitarist/vocalist Caleb Chauncey and drummer Nate Cook. Their latest single “Peace” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Evan Andree and recorded at American Sushi Recording Studio. The accompanying music video, which flashes back and forth from several different live performances of the single, was produced by Zach Fossier & GoForth Media Collective.
Soon after the release, Chauncey spoke out on Instagram about the single and what it means to him. Here are his words:
“’Peace’ was written about two years ago, and refined over those two years. My intent of this song is not to make people “sad” or anything along those lines. My hope is that for anyone that has felt misunderstood or alone in any situation can relate to this; That your opinion and your feelings are important and worth being heard. Struggle and pain is real. Speak your Peace and know that you are worth being heard and understood.”
Comments: The new Cougar Sweat single “Peace” is their first track since the release of their self-titled debut EP back in February of 2017. The single kicks off with rhythmic buffeting sounds of the kick drum and guitar setting the vigorous and forceful tone which can be heard throughout the track. The intense grooves paired with the high energy vocals and slight grunge sound of this track leaves us with an enthralling earworm and a thirst for more.
With their lo-fi blend of Indie meets Rock and seamless melodic guitar riffs, it is almost impossible to refrain from moving along to these tunes. Just listen above, and find yourself wishing you were jumping around in the crowd at one of their high-energy, live performances instead of jamming out in your car.
Lucky enough, you CAN catch Cougar Sweat bring their take on rock n’ roll to the stage at Smith’s Olde Bar tonight in the Atlanta Room with Kyle Troop & The Heretics, Wicked Animal, and Youth as Gold. Show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door. Ages 18+. ~Written by Mackenzi Brown
