Info: By blending elements of Folk, Psych, Jazz, and Bossa, Little Tybee have created a genre all their own, both creative and technical, with a keen ear for melody and accessibility.
The video for “Lost In The Field” was filmed by Tybee lead singer, Brock Scott, while sailing the Greek Cyclades. Tybee enlisted Shrivas Shyamsundar for VFX while Brock Scott and Beaux Latham hand animated the Greek undead and Sea Monster. The video features, Capt’n Thom (Thomson Moore) as he sails to the Greek underworld in search of his missing crew. The end of the video has Capt’n Thom sailing off into the distance to continue his yet unsuccessful search.
Comments: With four albums released since 2009, Little Tybee has built a strong following with their jazzed out psych folk sounds. The band blends all types of influences, from psych-folk, prog-rock, jazz, and Motown, into an expansive sound that is as much experimental as it is beautiful harmonies and melodies. The band’s new single “Lost In The Field” may just be one of their most stunningly gorgeous songs yet. The song goes down a dreamy path with Nirvana Kelly’s violin front and center next to Brock Scott’s soothing vocals until 3/4s of the way through, when the song takes a darker more prog rock turn with Josh Martin’s eight-string guitar taking more focus. Add in Ryan Donald’s flooring bass grooves, heavenly keyboard arrangements from Chris Case with Dallas Dawsons providing percussion, and you have a stunning new song from Little Tybee.
Of course whatever Little Tybee records, is only enhanced in a live setting where the band can lock in their crowds with a stellar live show. Just listen above, and catch Little Tybee bring their theatrical musical experience to Terminal West tonight in Atlanta with The Reign of Kindo, and Grut. The band has teamed up with some amazing visual talent for this production from some of Atlanta’s finest (R. Land, Nick Benson, VFX team for Stranger Things, and others) for a special hometown show and tour. Additional tour dates below.
