JUST LISTEN: The Caracals “Catch Your Eye”

The Deets:

Who: The Caracals
Song: “Catch Your Eye”
Appears On: “Catch Your Eye” is the third track off of The Caracal’s Debut EP In the Dark, which just released July 1st.
Current Location: Orange County, CA
Info: The Caracals is the brainchild of charismatic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Johnny Cis, an artist with a visionary creative twist and a passion for retro aesthetics. Johnny’s indie rock influences are tastefully mixed with Orange County surf, beat and flavorful 60s vibes, making for a direct and unique take on garage rock music.

The observant, and storytelling lyrics of “Catch Your Eye” meld with bouncy surf guitar riffs that make for a razor sharp tune. The track starts with hard hitting lyrics that then transition into a contained and deliberately melodic rock-noise. “Catch Your Eye” is an observational piece of the failures of human connection due to technology. The chorus line, “Checking your phone all night, as I fail to catch your eye,” highlights the difficulty in keeping a lover interested in the age of technology. The track was mastered by Kelly Hibbert (Little Dragon, Allah-Lahs) and recorded/mixed by Jazzcats Studios (The Buttertones, Tijuana Panthers).
Comments: While The Caracals introduced themselves to the world with the wistful debut song, “In The Dark“, which has been on repeat since we first heard it early this year, “Catch Your Eye” is a rollicking, crunchy garage rocker that mixes small elements of psychedelia with just enough SoCal to give us that retro summer jam with modern lyrics that we’ve all been needing. The Caracals might feature members of Hanni El Khatib, but it’s clear that this is a band ready to make waves on their own merits
