Afropunk Atlanta 2019 kicked off at 787 Windsor on Saturday, October 12th. It was the first actual fall feeling Saturday in Atlanta in what felt like years, which made for a nice day. There were a lot of great diverse artists playing on Saturday, which was capped off by the closing set from the stunning FKA TWIGS. While she lost her voice the night before, the avant-pop singer songwriter decided to carry on with her performance, even bringing an audience member on stage to sing for her. It may not have been the full FKA TWIGS experience, but it was euphoric nonetheless, and a hell of a start to Afropunk’s Carnival of Consciousness 2019.
