PHOTO REVIEW: Big Wild @ Terminal West

Big Wild just exploded Atlanta behind his new Invincible EP!

Born and raised in Lancaster, Massachusetts, Jackson Stell (the one and only Big Wild) started exploring hip-hop culture as a teenager. Even after moving out for university, Stell took his music with him. He attended Northeastern University in Boston and performed under the name of JBeatz throughout all of the years at school. Later he moved to California and changed his name to the Big Wild that we know. And if you ask him why Big Wild is his name, he would tell you stories about the beautiful landscapes of the Bay Area and Big Sur and ask you if you would have chosen a different one after seeing all of these spectacular things.

Stell’s music is a combination of computer mixed tracks with various instruments – primarily keys and drums. Stell seems to know all too well how to make the audience love every single note they hear after he comes up on stage. He makes every song a separate show of its own – Terminal West blew up with the cheerful scream and whistles for every single beginning and end of each of the tracks he played. One of Stell’s secrets is simple visual effects that match the music – some visuals are a transformative illusions while others are plain colorful beats – both of these work together very neat and create an all-engaging atmosphere.

Terminal West was packed. There was no room to even raise hands or try to dance. Yet the public managed to do both and seemed to be having a ton of fun. Some people were simply listening and watching, but the majority danced their souls out.
