It was an indie/Americana/alt-country rock delight at Terminal West on Thursday, September 20th, as Lucero brought their Among the Ghosts tour behind the recently released new album. The band spent two straight nights at the Atlanta venue on Thursday and Friday.
Opening for Lucero was singer songwriter Brent Cowles. This young and talented musician is one to keep an eye on. Brent recently was featured on NPR’s Slingshot, which showcases up and coming musicians. He was a founding member of You, Me& Apollo, a popular Americana band from Denver while in his teens. Brent is venturing out on his own releasing his debut album How to Be Okay Alone. Brent wails out his soulful Americana tunes and is comfortable on stage. Engaging the audience and vibing with his band he puts on a good show with lots of energy and heart. Brent is currently touring with Lucero. Be sure to catch this young guy so you can say you saw him when…
Memphis’ Lucero are celebrating 20 years of making music. The band just put out their 9th studio album Among the Ghosts and is currently touring promoting the new album. The tour is taking Lucero across the states this fall and then across the globe. Lucero started the tour with two nights at Atlanta’s Terminal West. Lucero and Terminal West have a special history, as this is where the band recorded their first live album, Live in Atlanta, over three sold out nights in 2014. Released in August 2018, Among the Ghosts is darker and has a southern gothic feel to it versus their last 8 albums. Although the album has a darker tone it is very sweet in that lead Ben Nichols has penned separate songs for his wife and his daughter. Ben’s love for his daughter is apparent on stage as he coyly smiles as he sings, “Hello, My name is Izzy”. Be sure to catch Lucero on their tour.
