Thursday, June 16th, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss brought their Raise The Roof Tour to a sold out crowd in Atlanta at Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park on a sweltering night.
2007 was when the two legends Plant and Krauss first came together releasing their first collaborative album with Raising Sand which would go on to six Grammy awards, including both Album and Record of the Year. 14 years later the duo paired back up for Raise The Roof, which was completed just before lockdown and released in 2021. Now on the road supporting the new critically-acclaimed album, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss brought their talented band to Atlanta.
Despite extreme heat, the sold out crowd packed in Chastain Park Amphitheatre to see the two icons perform. Adding to the Atlanta heat, was the elevated southern humidity, and in Georgia in June, that combo typically means pop up storms. Plant & Krauss took the stage playing “Rich Woman” to the crowds delight, but as they broke into “Quattro”, flashes of lighting seemed to be popping up in the distance. With Plant taking center stage during “Fortune Teller”, the crowd was taking in precious moments as the stormed grew closer. By the time the band hit their fourth song, “The Price of Love”, the venue had to make the tough decision to evacuate everyone to their cars (limited protected spots in the amphitheater) with strong lighting gathering over Buckhead and the surrounding areas. Unfortunately, the storm hovered for a while, with legit strikes hitting the area, eventually leading the show to being cancelled, with a rescheduled date to come.
It was only 4 songs of bliss, but well worth the trip. Now with a rescheduled date of September 6th, back at Chastain Park Amphitheatre, we will hopefully get the full set we were all so excited to see during this teaser. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date.
