Atlanta is a huge city with a diverse amount of talented artists and a great pool of independent record labels representing these artists, and our city. Juliett Rowe of Blood Drunk Records organized the very first Atlanta Record Label Fest at Aisle 5 in Little 5 last Sunday. The festival brought together 10+ record labels with booths set up full of t-shirts, vinyl, cassette tapes, and other merchandise in addition to a great list of Atlanta musicians there to perform for the crowd. We previewed the festival here and gave some recommendations.
The festival itself was well attended with friends old and new stopping in throughout the night to show their support, chat with the labels, learn about them, buy some stuff, and of course see some live music. We took in a few of the sites of a rather beautiful day seeing a slightly disconnected city come together. The acts were diverse, there were labels on opposite sides of the spectrums, yet the list of familiar faces ran long, and everyone was there for a good time, to support each other, and support Atlanta music. It was a wonderful occasion.
