Shaky Knees began Saturday as it does every day: with a set from Songs For Kids. The Songs For Kids Foundation gives kids battling serious illness opportunities to be creative and express themselves through music. They’ve brought music into hospitals across the country, and run regular programs in children’s hospitals in five states. Each day at Shaky Knees, they opened with a set.
Broncho
After Songs For Kids, several of the late night show opening acts strutted their stuff: Broncho, Bayonne and Sun Seeker were the standouts from the early Saturday lineup.
Greta Van Fleet
But nobody at Shaky Knees stole the show from the daytime audience like Greta Van Fleet. Ready for an interview? We sat down with Greta Van Fleet’s drummer a young Tommy Lee Danny Wagner after their set for an interview. (Check out the interview here)
The War on Drugs
Saturday afternoon at Shaky Knees gave way to evening and a brief delay as rain set in. When it cleared, The War on Drugs took to the stage and played their familiar brand of sonic, brooding gnosh. They thanked the grounds crew for the work with the tarps.

And by the time Queens of the Stone Age took to the stage, the largest crowd on hand yet at Shaky Knees all weekend had assembled around the Peachtree stage, stretching all the way back to the hills leading up to the Piedmont and secondary stages. Queens of the Stone Age put on an aggressive, masculine set list and brought a lot of energy to the day two finale. ~ Adam Kincaid
Bonus ** Post Animal Late Night ** @ Masquerade
Post Animal. Photo by Avery Newmark
Shaky Knees took us back to The Masquerade for another solid late night performance from Chicago band Post Animal. There was no Joe Keery on stage (aka Steve Harrington on “Stranger Things,” formerly played guitar in the band, but for reasons linked to his career had to leave), but Post Animal continued to rock without him. Members Dalton Allison, Jake Hirshland, Javi Reyes, Wesley Toledo and Matt Williams stayed true to their DIY roots and had the crowd dancing like friends in a crowded basement. Hell, we could have well been in someone’s basement – the crowd definitely was on the younger side. Post Animal had the room moving and soaking up all the jams the band had to offer. ~ Avery Newmark
