On Shaky Knees third and final day, Micah from the Songs For Kids program rocked with the Songs For Kids band, and even welcomed guest artist Kinsey Lee of the Wild Reeds to the stage. The latter took to the same stage she’d shared with Micah to kick off the day in earnest.
As the third day of music hummed along, bands like Alvvays and Post Animal took their respective stages. Lord Huron put on a show at Peachtree, lead singer Ben Schneider’s voice as unique and inspiring in person as it is on record, his style definitely more confident and swaggered than you might not expect from anyone less than say, George Ranger Johnson.
Perhaps the biggest news of the weekend came on Sunday, when Tenacious D casually dropped that they were planning a sequel to The Pick of Destiny.
“I don’t know where you’ll be able to see it, but we have decided that it’s happening and it’s coming out,” said Jack Black, the bands front man. He went on to mention that it would be coming out in October.
The festival ended with a somber, soulful set from The National that featured not one, but two trips into the crowd from front man Matt Berninger’s reedy baritone. Their music is brilliantly composed, delicate and beautiful. Their music cast a sense of hope out over the crowd as the night turned dark, and as the lights at Shaky Knees finally went out. ~ Adam Kincaid
