Before Atlanta’s Shampoo exploded on the scene, there was never any doubt that the greatest song by any band called Shampoo was “Trouble” from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The Movie: Original Soundtrack Album. Not too throw shade on a classic, but ATL’s Shampoo one ups them with their mega pop hit “Boys.”
Taken from their latest release, Terrible Heat, it rips right at the start with the immediate crack of snare drum and is immediately met by the ever present, ever catchy bass of Chandler Kelley. After that, the song takes off and doesn’t let you go. It’s perfect for these last few days of just-warm-enough-to-have the-windows-down weather in Atlanta and an immediate barn burner at every one of their live shows. Catherine Quesenberry (synths, vocals) and Rush Myers (vocals/guitar) keep the song feeling light and wonderful, their voices a perfect cloud to dance on over the bright lights of Atlanta’s skyline. Rush Myers guitar has the shine of the Aurora Borealis, always adding an impeccable shine and sense of wonder to the landscape of each song.
Shampoo have been quickly building a rabid audience in Atlanta and are preparing to take all this pop magic up the Midwest on their way to NYC. Catch Shampoo on the road, they’d “love to see you”
