On Friday night, Tennis kicked off the US part of the POLLEN tour at The Eastern in Atlanta with support from Kate Bollinger.
The lovely Kate Bollinger is kicking off this run of the tour with Tennis. The folk singer songwriter is coming off a huge year after releasing her first EP with Ghostly International. With her soulful, melodic songwriting, Bollinger has become a force on the indie pop scene with her tender folk. While she has yet to release a full length album, she’s been releasing singles and EPs dating back to at least 2018, so she had no problem providing a dreamy and breezy set for the Atlanta audience with her talented band. Kate Bollinger is every reason to arrive early for these Tennis shows.
After releasing their sixth album Pollen (via Mutually Detrimental) in early February, Tennis was ready to get these songs out on the road with this US tour starting Friday night in Atlanta, and then ending in Dallas in early May. The Atlanta crowd was ready, the merch table was packed with long lines, and the band was ready to put on a show. The beloved indie pop duo of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley played four songs live for the first time through their 19 song set: “Paper”, “Hotel Valet”, “Pollen Song”, and “Glorietta”. The set list also included other Pollen songs: “Forbidden Doors”, “Let’s Make a Mistake Tonight”, and “One Night with The Valet”. Of course there were also plenty of fan favorites from “Ladies Don’t Play Guitar”, to “Runner” to “No Exit”, “Need Your Love”, “I’ll Haunt You” and more. Eventually Tennis closed down the encore with the new song “Glorietta”. The songs off the new album Pollen really popped live, fitting in perfectly into their setlist of songs ready to have crowds grooving all night long. It was that kind of night at The Eastern.
