VIDEO INTERVIEW: Getting to know Dot.s

0

Atlanta-based Dot.s has consistently become one of our city’s best live bands over the last few years. Their brand of synth pop, or however you want to classify the band, has drawn comparisons to the likes of the Talking Heads and LCD Soundsystem since the release of their first two albums in 2015 and 2016. Comparisons aside, Dot.s are certainly doing their own thing which has always showed during their live sets that leave the crowds hype and sweaty. In 2019, Dot.s released their third album, Long for this World, showing a step forward in the evolution of their experimental electro pop.

For their latest album, Dot.s did something a little different. Instead of releasing a single or two and then the album, the band released 8 of the 9 tracks as singles weekly. They never even released the actual full “album” on the streaming giant that is Spotify, instead holding off the title track while releasing the album strictly via Bandcamp and CDs. So yes, Long for this World does exist and would fall within OE’s favorite albums of 2019 (even if we didn’t make an official list this year).

Get to know more about Dot.s in our video interview with Ryan James and Garrett Goss from the band below. You can catch them live this weekend at Savannah Stopover on Saturday at Club One or on tour around the Southeast in April including their hometown show at Food Court (Mammal Gallery) on April 11th. Plus it sounds like they are working on new music….
