PHOTOS: Empath @ Trans-Pecos – Queens, NYC – 7/11/18

Philadelphia noise rockers Empath played New York’s DIY-haven, Trans-Pecos, on Wednesday night. The venue’s atmosphere and leafy decor melded perfectly with the band’s spiritual ethos: nature-inspired experimental rock. Empath is out touring behind their latest EP, Liberating Guilt And Fear (3/28/18) and Environments 7″ (6/23/18), released through Get Better Records, Philly’s renowned DIY label.

Doused in neon-pink light, the quartet inconspicuously took the stage as one of their ambient samples of birds chirping resounded. Their songs feature an assortment of calming, natural sounds and binaural remedies combined with dizzying, therapeutic rock. At once, Empath falls on both sides of the anxiety-reducing, sonic spectrum, and the dichotomy is satisfyingly gritty.
